A Window into Rural History
Mondovi is a small rural city in west-central Wisconsin. With a population of 2,800, this tight-knit community has lower crime rates, a lower cost of living, and less traffic, all contributing to a more peaceful lifestyle. According to the U.S. Census Bureau (2022), Mondovi's household income is $48,000 compared to Wisconsin's median household income of $72,000. Despite this significant difference in income, Mondovi has much to offer. The city's rich history started with its founding in 1856. The name 'Mondovi' was inspired after the pioneers read about a battle in Mondovi, Italy, where Napoleon defeated the Sardinians. Although Mondovi generally has a longer commute time than most cities, traffic is usually lighter. The city offers numerous recreational activities surrounded by nature, including an ATV/UTV trail connecting to neighboring communities that snowmobilers use during the winter. Mondovi also has some popular annual events, such as the Buffalo County Fair, and has recently started its Oktoberfest festival in the second week of October. Such peaceful qualities, community events, and natural beauty make Mondovi a great place to live.
